What is the current situation on universities in Europe regarding attendance?
In NL all universities are officially open but in reality all education activities are online. How is the situation in eg. Portugal Greece, France, Iceland, Sweden, Ireland? (asking this because I want to go abroad since I dont wanted to be locked up for another year)

The uni over here still struggles with online tools. Apart from tech difficulties like streams not working a lot of tutors don't know how to teach in front of a camera. Mumbling, blocking view when explaining something etc. And a lot of course material has been googled together quickly resulting in things being only partially available or source documents being changed 2 days before deadline.
In short: it is a big mess. That would not be a huge problem if there had been regular exams. Then you could find your own sources and just study. But they have come up with the idea that everything needs to been done in groups and it is no longer exam results that count but the result on group projects using the sources the uni indicates (which may be unavailable or change at the last moment).

Is online learning such a big deal to you that you're willing to move to another country to attend classes?
Besides, afaik, in most European countries every uni hosts online classes because it's one of the easiest things to implement and keep this way. Universities are not schools, they don't have to force attendance or teach discipline, nor are they mandatory so they don't really necessitate physical presence.

After all, every uni already had some sort of an infrastructure to support online material so e-classes act merely as an extension (albeit often dysfunctional).
Don't be a shithead and stay in your country, you honestly have no idea how good you have it for being there.

I'm in my second year BEng EE course (UK) and I've got an exam tomorrow, but I get 24 hours to complete it at home and unsupervised in any way. Last year I had the same thing and despite fucking around for most of the semester I completely aced my exams, getting 100% in a few just because I could look up anything during the exam. I know students in my year are just outright cheating going to paid websites where you get answers to exam questions etc. but I'm just thinking we're going to get a lot of people failing next year or just a bunch of terrible graduates coming out of this.

Online studies mean you will not build networks. These are extremely important in acquiring future jobs. It is very rare to find employment without having any connections to your employer.

I quit my Msc for this reason, because I am basically donating thousands of Euros to University for low-quality Zoom lessons. I will find better lectures on Youtube for free. Education is a joke with the virus going on, but it's totally worth it to save some gluttonous boomers, isn't it?
