If consciousness and general intelligence came about randomly through natural selection why can’t you idiots just simulate the same conditions in a computer and let consciousness come about by itself in the simulation?

We don't even know what conditions we need exactly. And even if we somehow proceed with this, we can still fail miserably, as to simulate is to omit certain aspects of a phenomenon. You can simulate weather just fine, but nothing gets wet from rain in there.
