What's stopping ceramics from being a dominant material for turbine blades?

Dunno. Brittle? I know metal turbines get a ceramic coating to insulate the metal from the melting temperatures

can't bend, cracks or breaks under pressure instead
probably does worse in terms of stability due to being lighter, this one is iffy though

RR and GE are both developing CMC’s for use in some of the turbine stages. Pure ceramics aren’t strong enough I think. Nor the reliability. Even a tiny issue with turbine blades is a huge headache, see the Trent 1000.
