Time travel in the form of closed timelike loops are supposed to exist inside spinning, charged black holes. Practically they'd be useless because you'd be stuck repeating the same thing forever but it's scientifically allowed, all we need is a black hole manipulation system.

I do think in general the argument that "we haven't seen any time travelers from future, therefore time travel to the past is probably impossible" bad, but I also think the lack of time travelers now implies it's not gonna happen any time soon. An extremely advanced civilization would probably not have an interest in visiting this time on Earth, however if it were possible in a few decades then for sure there would be lots of people with incentives to visit our time or our past, of which we should have had some evidence by now. And that's without going into all the exotic physics it requires, and the fact that it seems just physically impossible or at the very least, extremely far fetched. Unlike say superhuman artificial intelligence.
I guess you could still wiggle out of this by saying that time travel might be still extremely dangerous/costly/expensive, and would be only used for a few trips and all of those would be very secretive for some reason. So we just haven't found about them.

Forward time travel is piss easy from a physics standpoint. All you need to do is get yourself up to relativistic speeds and you can let the decades pass you by.
