This. Hopefully it does. We need that money and effort to go toward the democratic agenda for 2020, especially now that we control all three branches of government (Senate, House and presidency). We need to ensure a fair wage. We need to address the horrible racism that has infected our nation since its inception. We need to help small business. And we need to focus ALL our scientific might on green technologies that would solve man made climate change. We don't need an expensive space telescope. We already have the Hubble and ISS. Telling you right now that this would be a money hole requiring hundreds of millions a year that we can't maintain, even after taxes are raised.

I'd say quite low, hence the meticulous testing and redesigning that keeps delaying it.
It's launching on the Araine 5 which has an excellent record. The scary part is it has to unfold like origami and tension itself and the lens segments have to fold together extremely precisely. There will no chance at servicing this thing in it's L2 orbit

Not really. Because it's optimized for longer wavelengths the angular resolution is about the same as Hubble.
