When the genes of daddy and mommy get mixed up they only provide 50% of the genes. Sometimes by good luck its mostly good DNA that gets passed, but the opposite is also possible. The result is that offspring isnt just an average of the parents, but can come out either fitter than each parent, or worse than each parent. Fitter is you got mostly your father and mothers good genes during the lottery.
