Hey /sci/,
How do bio weapon labs actually work?
Put the covid stuff aside, how do you experiment with bacteria?
Make little dishes of it and feed it radioactive waste in hopes it mutates?
What's the process?
Why do we have bio weapon labs anyways?

How do you get the bacteria you want?

Pick a biological vector (virus, bacteria, etc)
Using CRISPR Cas-9 you can alter the DNA of simple organism like the above very easily. In a lab situation you'd want to make it dependent on a specific material for food, like a certain sugar. You can cultivate bacteria in a sterile environment with food. I don't know much about viruses, but I guess they just need cells they are specialized to permeate.
Genetic engineering for desired traits/behavior (say you want it to cause anemia and blood thinning as well as internal hemorrhaging)
Population vector (Like putting it inside a drug that is then passed around)
We probably have bio weapon labs for the same reason we have nukes.
