>>12554730>backup careerSorry, but your "backup career" is going to be working for a temp agency that sends you from warehouse to warehouse, with increasingly scant benefits until those dissolve.
-University/research positions: There are tons of people from Japan, India, and China that will fill the top spots, so kiss this goodbye. A certain special group of "whites" will get in prestigious northeastern schools due to ethnic nepotism as well.
-Mid-level private sector: Standards will lower so that Indian and Nigerian copy-paste coders and "engineering grads" from their diploma-mills (even if they graduate in the USA, all colleges in the USA are diploma mills for brown/foreign people) will get positions. They'll get the benefit of the doubt and "trained in" on virtually nothing while you have to have 90 quadrillion years of experience in senior level stuff and expert knowledge of the exact, specific tools that they use.
-Low-level menial labor: This is where most people on this board will be fighting to get in and out of. Don't worry, there's tons of choices! You can work for $10/hr and next to no benefits in your choice of either a nightmare sweatshop or as a fry-cook. Both come with a megalomaniac mid-level boss who is pissed off all the time because they work 13 hour days and is dumber than everybody below them.
Also, as the rent rises and you can no longer afford your own place, hopefully your parents have a nice place you can hunker down at. If you aren't so lucky you can buy a nice sleeping bag and try to sleep in a part of the city where you won't get bludgeoned overnight because a drug addict wanted your wallet. As time goes on, threads about finding good sleeping bags and threads for tips about homelessness will abound in /sci/, next to threads about how to assemble Big Macs faster and what to do now that you have a broken leg from a work accident and your state just passed a law where only black people get unemployment benefits.
