If you take a tiger, force it to live in a swamp, and live off of nothing buy onions, it would be depressed too.
It's just a side effect of living in an environment not matched up to your "hardware."
Also, some people's hardware is just fucked up, and they would never feel comfortable in any environment. Nature used to eliminate those people.
