I'm trying to tarnish or oxidize or discolor aluminum foil in order to make pretty colors that can be used for metal art.

/diy/ gave me a pretty good list of ways to accomplish this, most of which involve heat and/or water (suspending it over steaming foods, using a heat gun, boiling it in water, boiling it in water with eggshells), but none of them have worked quite well so far. The eggshell method made a bunch of shades of bronze, but little color.

Pic shows the latest method I am using, which involves using lead, copper, and bleach in a sealed mason jar to discolor foil. ...It hasn't discolored foil, though, just corroded it and made holes.

Is anyone who understands chemistry better than I do able to explain what I can do here? Like ratios, or different substances altogether?

Pics of existing foils incoming.
