Got a bit drunk and had a revelation

If the universe is expanding, and by extend, the stars and galaxies we see in the night sky are also moving away from us
That means that one day the light from those stars won't reach us anymore
But the stars won't disappear, they'll turn into protostars (from where we view them)
But if stars are going from star to protostar, then they're going backwards (again, from where we view them)
So that means it's very possible that at least a handful of stars in our night sky are burning in reverse, right?
Am I wrong?
