If the universe is 14 billion years old, how have we measured things that are 17 billion light years away?
Since NOTHING can move faster than the speed of light, how can there be anything at 17 billion light years away

The universe is expanding, when the light you observe now was emitted the object was much closer.

17 billion lightyears corresponds to a redshift of about 2. That means observed wavelengths are 3 times longer than you expect from wavelengths measured in the lab. It also means the universe was 3 times less expanded when the light was emitted. So when the light started its journey the distance was only ~6 billion lightyears. If the universe wasn't expanding that light would have passed us a long time ago, but it is expanding. So the light didn't have to travel 17 billion lightyears.
