Probably one of the worst authors that exist to self-teach you something
I'd recommend his books if you already have a basic understanding of the topic and wishes to see a different, extremely (unnecessarily) formalistic approach of it
The best book he wrote isn't Algebra, it's "Fundamentals of Differential Geometry" by the way
