Google combinatorics. Specifically combinations, permutations, and Cartesian sets.

Also, are you talking only real English words, or just all combinations of letters that fit the rule? And does order matter?

they dont have to be real words, and order does not matter. i know that the total is 26* 26 * 26, but how do get it to be the collection off all of them with max. 2 vowels :/

use a dictionary and a recursive algorithm.
easier if you reduce the dictionary to only three letter words.
then return a counting variable.
