My statistics teacher presented the Bernoulli distribution and just said what the variables mean and then went on after 5 minutes, am i supposed to understand it without an explanation and so i'm retarded for not doing so or is my teacher skipping parts?

Professors take their intuition on the topic for granted so they speed-run through the boring stuff thinking you yourself have the same intuition he does aka autist with zero empathy. If you want to succeed you must spend ample time out of class developing intuition on your class material. If you can manage this, your brain now has a bucket where you can chuck shit you learn in class into so learning gets way easier.

You know that constipated feeling you get in your brain while you sit in a lecture not knowing wtf is going on? That is your brain trying to form a sensible bucket on the topic matter so you can actually start learning.

Do you even know what a probability distribution is? Really ask yourself that

this is an excellent article that explains the logic behind "n choose r" and then I think the summation of terms in a polynomial is intuitive enough.

I can only agree: Pick a book, preferably one with exercises and solutions, and revise the topics. Do the exercies. Most importantly, do your homework. You'll eventually get the intuition. But it'll take time.
Ask your teacher for recommendations. Check your library. I really liked Statistics by R. J. Barlow, but most books should be fine.
