there are records of fossil collections from the 16th century
before that, when people found fossils they generally thought they were relics of demons and so on. ancient people made myths about fossil bones they discovered
also in about 1000ad the entire world population was about 300 million people. most of the world was undeveloped. it didn't tip 1 billion until about 1800. the beginning of the industrial revolution is when people started bigger agricultural and housing projects etc and people started discovering fossil bones.
most dinosaur discoveries now are still made away from human habitation (especially in africa) but as the population increases and people spread out to areas that are currently undeveloped, expect more discoveries to be made
