What's the difference between engineering statics/dynamics and classical mechanics (physics)?

In my experience from having taken statics and classical mechanics, there's not too much a difference other than that statics / dynamics focus much more on relevant engineering examples. If you've mastered N2L, you've mastered statics, dynamics, and whatever classical mechanics topics a physics classes covers.

could be a brainlet as well though so take my experience with as much credence as you think is right

Lots more free body diagrams. Engineering statics/dynamics is nothing but classical Newtonian physics, but they really like to give you complicated 3D systems of forces and torques to work out.

Thanks for the response. Should I then continue self-studying statics/dynamics through Hibbeler or should I pick up a classical mechanics book (say Taylor) and go through that instead?

Depends on your end goal.
Most would prolly say classical mechanics, but if you're tryna learn engineering / get into that discipline, continue with Hibbeler
