Contrary to popular belief, humans do not breathe in air.
We breathe due to pressure differentials created by our diaphragms: when we "inhale", all we're doing is lowering our lung pressure which causes air to rush in to both lungs as a result. Exhaling is active, though. I'm always surprised to see that a lot of people don't know this and think we just actively suck in air when breathing.
