Young girls are being told that going into CS is a win for feminism. They're not doing it out of interest in the subject, they're doing it to virtue signal to their woke friends. Most of these women are going to drop out, either before graduating or from their career, within a few years. Doing work you have no interest in is rough enough but software development is annoying, tedious, and lonely. Women aren't good with dealing with any of that.
The autistic women who would have gone into CS anyway will continue to do fine but the 90% who are doing it to fight the patriarchy are going to be absolutely miserable. This is why they had to invent brogrammers to give themselves an excuse for quitting.

People hate their jobs to various degrees. Women like interacting with people. Software development minimizes this. Outlier women who hate interacting with people have a chance at enjoying software development, but normie women are doomed. That the typical woman hates that someone else in the office wore the same shoes she did is vastly different than the typical woman feeling like she is in solitary confinement because she was expected to sit silently in front of a computer screen until she could figure out how to get the data feed from Sprockets Inc into the same format used by Wingdings LLC so they can be merged and then imported into a NOSQL database.

Because it makes the most money for the a low amount of academic investment for the basic ticket into software. This is true for men as well, and I’m willing to bet you would find similar trends in the majors men take.
CS can be easy or hard based on what route you take for a career, but many people regardless of background just want the easy $$$
