Think for a second about how you'd get free neutrons. You'd need to either do fusion or particle acceleration. Hardware for this is highly specialized and made by order for laboratories.

There are neutron emitting elements like californium right? Couldn't you just put a neutron emitter in a tube and make some controls for output?

neutrons don't have electrical charge so you can't wiggle their path with magnets, and if you could, they wouldn't produce x-rays.

also there is no such thing as lasers but with electrons/neutrons instead of light because both electrons and neutrons are fermions
if you just want a beam of neutrons then you just need a neutron source with shielding in all directions except where you want the beam to go

I've never done it before and I want to just buy one.

If I did do that my guess would be to send a voltage between the deuterium so that the deuterium ions flow into the second deuterium, it would also have to be in a vacuum... Yea i'm not making this thing.

Why are my only options DIY deuterium fusion device or some dangerous crap involving alpha emitters?
How is no one selling a simple direction neutron emitter device?

Thats why it should be using a non radioactive martial for generating the neutrons. Like deuterium.

Well yea but that's the point.
It's a neutron generator. It's suppose to generate neutrons. The point is to have it generate them in an aimed direction, not all over the place.

alpha particles into beryllium is from the 1940s and I'm just wondering if we came up with anything better since. My deuterium fusion device is an awful idea but even that's better.
The goal is not to create a Superfund site.

Neutrons are extremely dangerous. More dangerous than Gamma, I thought they were weaker then alpha.

How come nobody mentioned this?
