Is evolution teleological? That's the kind of language biologist are always using to describe it but then say, "no no, because at the fundamental level it's all just a bunch of random mutations there is no goal". Alright, but isn't that sorta reductionist? We do observe an actual order arising out of these random mutations, it looks like from the macroscale that there is a goal oriented process going on here. Why can't we view it teleologically? Wouldn't that just be another way of thinking about it or another way of viewing reality here that conforms with our observations whilst the other way of observing it also conforms with our observations?
