It is becoming commonplace for those who have been brought back from the dead to report various experiences. There are similarities between these experiences (1). Identifiable neurological events have been associated with NDEs, though some reports exist of NDEs among those who were brain-dead (2). Some have posited that the experiences are similar to taking DMT, with at least one open interview style study (I know I know) comparing NDE experiences with DMT experiences revealing similarities (3). But evidence for any given conclusion about these NDEs is not really well established. I found one wide review (4) which summarized various explanations and their support but I’m not sure about it (he references his own studies a lot).
