My thesis (I’m an economist btw) is on wage differentials in war time Germany. I was interested in WW2 history and labour economics when I started, and I still am.
But at the same time I’ve always, from an actual academic level, preferred theoretical/mathematical problems in economics. I’d love to go back to that, but whenever I talk to other PhD students, I feel like they’re studying economics whilst I’m doing... economic studies.
If you get what I mean. I’m not sure if I’ve railroaded myself into economic history (which whilst interesting, is particularly niche), and I’m not sure how I’m gonna leap over to economic theory at the end of it.
It’s real depressing desu
