What is more worrying is that the hype and the endorsement of the perceived danger by governments around the world may point towards a growing realization that the incident and lethality of new pathogens is likely to increase over the coming decades, due to a variety of reasons. In this respect the
response to CV19 can be seen as a dress rehearsal for what is likely to come next.
In this regard they are using the incidence of CV19, and any new strains of it, to prepare people for strictly limited medical resources, to expect higher death rates, to become accustomed to greater government controls, and to train their population in rudimentary protective and quarantine methods. The health and economic well being of countries where a population already accustomed to pandemics, and compliment to pandemic conditions, will be far more resilient. Especially in western countries where for nearly 100 years death from a pandemic has been a relatively rare event compared to heart disease, cancer, etc. Imagine something as deadly as new type of Bubonic plague hitting next year. Countries that can swiftly lockdown and secure their borders, ration their hospital services, and deal with the social unrest and panic, are more likely to weather the impact.
