If it's chronic exposure to mercury, it's better to do hair sampling. Serum mercury levels normalize after a few months as the RBCs are replaced.

Many countries were using amalgam fillings until recently. The cheap alternative, composites, are trash as well. Replacing mercury for estrogenic plastic.

Not sure, composites also tend to not last as long, and you'll lose more tooth as the filling is drilled out and replaced. They also have a much greater risk of allowing infection of the tooth because they're not bacteriocidal like amalgams.
Porcelain or gold is probably the best choice, but requires money and multiple visits. Also, gold can have a galvanic reaction to amalgam fillings if they touch. Fillings in general suck.

Amalgam is super based and is still the best material for fillings after pure gold. Composite is very esthetic but will handle aging poorly due to certain properties of the material. Who thought it was a good idea to use a very moisture-sensitive material inside the mouth?
Glass ionomers on the other hand are moisture tolerant, tooth colored, and increasingly approaching the strength of composite. I would rather only use GI and amalgam for the rest of my career if I could.

I thought sharks simply had rows and rows of teeth, so as they lose a tooth, another one moves into position? Rodents have teeth that constantly grow, which would be useful other than the fact that they need to be constantly ground down. I had a rabbit with front teeth that didn't align, so I had to clip them or they would grow until he couldn't eat.

I think the biggest issue is the placement of the amalgam, but especially the removal of the amalgam. I have 4-5 amalgam fillings that were placed in my teens, all 20+ years old. One was cracking, I could taste metal. My dentist quickly drilled it out and placed a new one. I could smell the metal vapors for days, and felt ill for several weeks. If I need to have any of the other ones removed, I'm going to a specialist that will take precautions so I don't inhale the vapors.

Ask them to use a rubber dam when they remove it. Mercury is locked up inside the metal as part of the alloy at that point though so it's not accurate to say you're inhaling "vapors"

Not sure where you're getting that from. The heat generated by the drilling creates measurable amounts of mercury vapor, which can be immediately absorbed into the bloodstream and transported to the brain. Once it's demethylated in the brain, the inorganic mercury has a half life of over a decade. A dam won't block the vapors. Further protective measures should be taken when removing amalgams.
