>>12514083Fucking idiots. Look, if you want to bring forth technologies of that magnitude and impact, research is not the way to do so. Very rarely does a single piece of research result in tangible technologies. An entire field would have to be birthed for what you're talking about and the sheer layers of bureaucracy and inefficiencies present within academia are humongous barriers for entry. Pretty much your BEST and ONLY bet is to get really really rich. That is the only way to enact your will. Be really fucking rich, fund the research and invest in the startups that emerge. This is also the single best time to become rich. Interest rates are at pretty much 0% and the US seems to be bubbling with liquidity. Furthermore, a fucked up COVID economy will mean competition for jobs is at an all time high. There has been no better time to start a business. However, I will say that a new class of companies has been emerging for some time now. There are companies that are both research and business oriented. Very Bell Labs and Xerox Parc -esque. Think DeepMind, OpenAI etc. For your purposes, I would focus entirely on how to get a job at a place like Neuralink. These guys seem to be the only people actively working on the things your interested in as of this moment. The place is probably also teeming with intelligent capable people. I would put absolutely EVERYTHING into working at that place if I was you. There business model is good which gives me faith they'll be able to continue to fund the research aspect and explore a lot of fascinating avenues in this space.
tl;dr work at Neuralink and/or get rich
