>>12511815Humans are naturally curious creatures. Abstract representation of nature literally began in caveman times. Whatever effort you could make to get rid of science, including outright destroying all pieces of technology and books, whatever you destroy would eventually be rediscovered and we would go down the same route. Doing so would also almost certainly create more widespread suffering and death.
Even if technology and science are responsible for great suffering, that suffering will be reduced with further development of technology and science. Because the removal of science and technology would just result in an eventual return to our current state, it is almost certainly preferable to continue development of both science and technology from our current state rather than attempt to destroy what currently exists.
By the way, uncle Ted is irrationally focused on the preservation of human beings as they are. He fears being replaced by another species down the line. Unfortunately for him, replacement is a natural consequence of evolution.
