>>12509806I do experience some pain, mostly from soreness, but it's definitely not in the "awful" territory. Also, if the surgery is done in proper conditions and you stay in the hospital until the surgical scar heals (usually 1-2 weeks), it won't get infected.
If you don't experience pain right now, then it's alright to be hesitant to take the surgery too. My case got progressively worse from about 15 to 18 years old despite any therapy I underwent, and I was experiencing pains that made me understand that it would get a lot worse if I didn't go for the surgery.
All in all, it was a good decision, even though it's obviously a permanent handicap it's still better than becoming a hunchback by the time you're 23 years old.
Ask your docs if they think your condition will get worse, and if they think the surgery is a good idea. It's a shitty decision, but you gotta make your choice as educated as you can.
