This article puts forward the theory that:
a) autism is caused by individual neurons that are programmed to expect the world to be too logical and predictable compared to how it actually is.
2) schizophrenia is the inverse of autism; instead of individual neurons paying too much attention to random things IRL in schizos the neurons pay too much attention to the subconscious.
What do you think? Immediately the theory fits optical illusions disproportionately succeeding on schizos and autists preferring heavy blankets.
