How do I get started with R? Is there any good and free course or tutorial or something like that? I am a total newbie when it comes to programming.
Is there anything useful I can learn before I get started or anything other related to bioinformatics?

Just look up some tutorials on how to load data, data manipulation, run simple regression models, and make plots. R is pretty newbie friendly

take whatever tutorial is available
focus on:

then go to Kaggle and copy notebooks

My supervisor told me I mostly will just need R. Bioinformatics is not really the main focus of my work but learning a bit more then necessary about it wont hurt. What is used for seerious bioinformatics if I may ask?

You can literally import almost any R library you want and do stats with it (and any Python library) thank me after you're done.
