So, to formulate a different problem: Let's figure out if rich people have a bigger grocery story bill.
In column A, put a persons income, and column B, their grocery bill. So A1 will be the income of person A, and B1 will be their bill.
Cool! Data. Now, add a trendline: y=mx+b. This is a regression line, and plots the association between income and grocery spending. Awesome! But wait, lets pretend we are retarded, and I don't like that its not a straight line. How do we get straight line?
Now sort column A by itself, smallest to largest. Then column B by itself, smallest to largest. If you're thinking "what the fuck" you are on the right track.
Now, plot the independently sorted X to the independently sorted Y.
Wow! A line! Now that's a relationship!
