Is grad school worth it in the semiconductor industry?

I'm already working as a process engineer, making ok money (not the greatest), but it seems like I'm definitely stuck with the pleb jobs.

I really want to get into device design but PhD is basically required for that.

PhD & Masters holders in the semiconductor industry, do you feel your additional schooling is worth it?

You're talking about slave labor conditions in clean rooms. And first you have to bust your chops in university fabs which is even worse. Then you'll be competing with pajeets and change for jobs and they have huge networks already in place. Unless you're at Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Caltech, you don't wanna do this.

It's a fine school, but you need to make sure you have a network. Pajeets and changs will dominate you in interviews.
