When the first wave of COVID was ramping up in late March and early April, so-called elective surgeries--including cataract and spine surgeries, and hip and knee replacement surgeries--were postponed across America to make room for the deluge of COVID patients hospitals expected.
Cancer screenings and other preventative health measures were also postponed.
The AAP, however, insisted that circumcisions still be performed, meaning it was a non-elective, and therefore essential surgery in their eyes:
