Has anyone tried to map out a 'technological investment' chart for the future? Or at least a list of upcoming breakthroughs that would need to occur to arrive at some point X in the future? (where X could be a vague meme like a type II civilization, or an actual goal like a full synthetic tissue reconstruction of the human body).

As in, the same way Hilbert laid out his list of 23 problems in mathematics in 1900 (8 of which have been anally destroyed). Where is the map of major obstructions / projects / limiting reactants / stumbling blocks in a field of innovation (e.g. efficient solar cells, or high through-put protein screening)?
I understand that innovation can have multiple paths / attack vectors / invention pipelines. Why not list them out for things like a cancer cure, synthetic organs, the protein folding problem, or endeavors of particle physics?

I'm sure someone has done it, I'm just wondering if an autist has put it up on a blog, or if it's behind a paywall of some illuminati think tank (I may be giving the illuminati and think tanks too much credit).
