One thing ive never understood about COVID tests:
If it spreads through water droplets why do they have to shove a stick up your nose?
Shouldnt a swab in your mouth be enough?

I don't know but given how much more traffic your mouth sees than the back of your sinuses it seems like a worse place to look for something and expect a consistent result.

I got tested recently and it was just a mouth swab, a few seconds on the inside of both cheeks and under the tongue, then i had to hold it in my mouth for a bit before sealing it back up in its container and throwing it out to the testing people for my results

More ACE-2 receptors in the nose compared to the mouth. Viral load would be expected to be greater in the sinuses compared to the mouth. That said, there's now spit tests that are claimed to be highly accurate, so I dunno.
