Or take random functions and apply the theorems/principles to see what they actually meant.
I went through my Physics degree without doing that and just trying to deduce all theory by myself. I don't know why, maybe because I was stubborn, but I now wish I had taken a much more practical/intuitive approach based on exploration and examples. It's how I self study nowadays and it's a lot more effective.
