What is the primary component for intelligence? I'm going to blogpost since it is what motivated me to ask this. I'm conflicted with what level of intelligence I operate at. I suck at IQ tests (scored 103), performed mediocre on GRE (303 total, 151 math), suck at solving puzzles, and just an all around dunce when it comes to classical metrics of intelligence. Yet I go to a top engineering ivy league for grad school and perform above average in my classes. I don't even work that hard, I just complete assignments and review notes before exams and do well. I double majored in pure math and statistics and got A's in nearly every single course, including grad level classes.

So what gives? Why do I perform poorly on standard tests for intelligence but perform so well in school? What "type" of intelligence do these standard metrics potentially miss?
