>>12476806There is no reason to wear a mask when you're outside by yourself. I'm not even sure I understand your point. Are you saying that under any circumstances we should take every single possible measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases? The logical conclusion of that line of reasoning is that every single human on earth should live in a bubble like someone with a severe auto-immune disorder.
Otherwise, you have to admit that at least in some cases, we have to accept the fact that we might get sick and we can't take every single precaution that is physically possible just to prevent the spread of a disease. In some case, we're going to have to accept the possibility of getting sick, whether it be from COVID or something else.
Just to be clear, I support the usage of masks and vaccines. All I'm saying is that we have to be willing to have a conversation about the topic of sanitation and PPE, and we have to be willing to consider the pros and cons. Everything can be taken to extremes. Obviously, you don't support the idea of spending the rest of your life in a bubble, so we all have limitations on what we're willing to do. In order to sort out those details we need to be willing to have a conversation, and we have to be ready to admit that some safety precautions go too far.
I know this post will probably piss you off when you read it, but I'm really not saying anything controversial. I'm saying we should wear masks and take vaccines, but we also need to be ready to talk about when things are going too far. Just because we know something will save a few lives or prevent some of the spread, that doesn't automatically entail that we should embrace that policy or practice. Everything has it's trade offs. If we banned cars it would save lives and prevent pollution, but it would also completely change modern civilization.
