Hello /sci/, thinking this is the right place to ask as there may be somebody with pharmacological expertise here. What is the benzodiazepine with the least recreational potential and why? Which benzo is the least harmful to take long term?

none of them try gabapentine or pregabalin instead, but if you really need that benzo feeling use kava kava root instead it feels super similar and isnt as bad for you

It's kinda difficult to answer this question because we need to know what dimensions of 'harm' you're looking to reduce. I would honestly say they are all equally dangerous and the literature does not distinguish any specific benzo as more or less dangerous. They are all GABAergic drugs which means they can all induce dependency. There is some variation in the half life but that is about it. Informally Diazepam and Lorazepam are considered to be 'softer' than something like Alprazolam or Clonazepam.

Benzos are all junk and mostly prescribed to low IQ individuals who can't handle the Chad CII sedative. This includes midwits like Peterson. And yes, they still make it in the US and it is still prescribed to actual smart people who have enough self control not to spiral into hedonistic drug addiction. Reminder smooth brain, it's not the drug. Its YOU. The fact that you even ask these questions is a sign you should never be trusted with even the bozodiazapines.

I ordered Flunitrazepam (rohypnol/roofies) from an Australian pharmacy a long time ago just to see what it was about. It was a pretty shitty benzo desu. Clonazepam was better

Tianeptine is exceptional for this. Removes anxiety, is a nootropic which reverses stress induced brain atrophy, and an incredible antidepressant.
Downsides: short half life (3hours). Noticeable crash but it’s only as bad as a coffee crash and lasts for an hour.

benzos aren't a long-term thing. You are either bored/trolling/baiting, or you don't have a competent understanding of benzos. Benzos are situational, and tolerance grows faster than your ability to tolerate short and long-term sides.

possibly phenazepam? lasts a very long time and most users say it's very little on euphoria. IMO it's more functional than other benzos i tried (alprazolam, clonazepam, diazepam, etizolam, flunitrazepam, lorazepam, clonazolam) it's as harmful as other benzos though.

Stick with Diazepam, example Valium brand name. This one is the best all rounder. Lasts long, no sudden come down. Feels just right.
I wouldn`t dose no more than two days in a row and even then I would keep dose as low as possible. If you plan to take for much longer then you will need to taper down when its time to get off. Even then you will still feel some negative effects. There really is no harmless long term benzo usage. They will all drag you into a black hole if you are not careful.
