I'm not the OP, but I really, really relate to him. I feel like some misplaced
chihuahua dog or something whenever I'm in class or interacting with others or even with the professor. It's honestly demeaning, and I've since went on leave for quite a while, but it seems to make things only worse with time, because by now I think the part of my brain that deals with social activity has completely atrophied.
I just really don't know how to overcome myself.

Since you have to do it anyway and most likely will have to do it later, to get a somewhat decent job just dont attach yourself to the outcome dont stress over it. The demands on this will be higher in a professional setting. If you tried to get over your social anxiety if you ever experienced it and if you just determined your brain is just not wired for being likeable in spontaneus socisl interaction, One solution is just to get damned good at what you do if you feel bad about yourself. Others will feel inadequate in their skills and will cope with socialization. And thats how it just works.

Which in turn are only one step away from realizing you can read the textbooks on which those videos and course notes are based.

I'm a math graduate teaching assistant at a public flagship.

Since I've had to switch everything to online, I've noticed far more cheating than in the past, and almost everyone in my department has made their courses easier and their grading standards lower.

Online course credits are simply not as reliable as physical ones. There are definitely people whose online degrees reflect knowledge and skill, but there is definitely more burden on them to prove it than just the degree, compared to a standard degree.

I wouldn't trust an online degree without also knowing the person myself, or some strong recommendation letters.

I know a vlsi engineer that got a PhD online so he could teach at a state college, so they must be out there.

There are universities that have operated online for much longer than regular universities that decided to switch to distance learning overnight.

For example, the Open University in the UK has offline exams (in your country of residence) and even residential schools for some courses, is fully accredited, and recognized by several professional societies (such as the Physics degree is recognized by the Institute of Physics, the Maths degree is recognized by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, etc).
There are also some German universities offering highly valued online degrees in STEM, but they're in German.

If one decides to get an online degree, it's better to get one from an European university. Always check the accreditation and university rankings.
