Why is the current flowing through every resistor here constant (pic related)? Shouldn't the current flowing through R2 and R3 be smaller than the current flowing through R1, since resistors slow down the flow of current?

So current in a single-loop circuit without any junctions is constant everywhere? This implies that the reading on every ammeter here will be the same, right?

If so, then what do capacitors do exactly? Do they just lower the current in the whole circuit?

If they don't do that, what's the physical interpretation of the equation i = dq/dt? Since the resistors slow down the current, then dt must get larger, and so i must change.

imagine a stream of water throught diffent size of pipes in series. no matter what the differences, eventually the flow will reach a steady state with constant flow, even though the pressures (the voltages here) will be different in various parts of tbe pipeline.
capacitors store charge that can be later utilized for current, depends how you connect them. if you put one in series with the resistors, it will just charge itself and then the current will stop.

If the current in R1 were greater than in R2, then charge would buildup at R2, thereby slowing down the current from R1 and speeding up the current after R2. Given time, the end result will just be that the currents become equal, since otherwise charge continues to buildup until they ARE equal.

current is simply charge per defined unit of time. Resistors don't "slow down" current, they limit it as I=U/R, so less charge (fewer coulombs) will travel through the wire to the opposite side of power source
