Are ghosts simply strange occurrences not outside of the realm of an explanation with the proper understanding of science? The idea of ghosts have even been mentioned in biblical texts and have maybe even before that. Many people have claimed to have seen ghosts or experienced the paranormal as far back as biblical times so I can’t just dismiss the idea that people have not seen “ghosts” and that there isn’t any possibility of their existence. But far less and less people are believers of those things such as religion, ghosts, etc. because of science and reasoning. Myths of fairies, centaurs, and trolls and other creatures were believed to exist in some ancient societies throughout history. Just take a look at Greek mythology and all the seemingly wacky stuff they believed in and written about. Communication is no longer confined within communities, societies or texts written by people within them. We have the internet and access to everyone's beliefs that are questioned by people not raised in communities who all commonly believe these things because everybody else around them does.

So what of it? Ghosts are a legend/idea that slightly differs from all these myths. You cannot see some ghosts and other ghosts interact with the world by moving objects etc. so that eliminates the argument we have with centaurs: “They don’t exist because we haven’t seen them or their bones.” Ghosts don’t have bones. So overall, do people still believe in ghosts because they don’t try to explain it with science or have these people tried to explain it with science and they cannot yet be a believer in ghosts. I haven’t fully questioned many people who believe in ghosts out of respect but none of them seem to really even mention science or pursue the idea if I mention it. Their explanation is usually somewhere along the lines of “my grandfather has seen ghosts and many other family members”, like i had mentioned before - people within their community.
