Oppose thing to religion, whose credibility relies soley on the number of people who believes it. Religion survives through indoctrination, through manipulation, through establishing itself as a core component of culture. Once the culture that a religion has infested dies, the religion dies with it.
Only a religion would demand people to believe it. Stop turing science into a religion, stop robbing it of the virtues that makes it reliable. Science does not want to be believed, and scientists do not want to be trusted, for that would ruin the entire point of their search for truth.
