yes it does, material can pose a different resistance to different wavelengths, this is actively used in filters of all possible kinds

It really depends on what the wall is made of. Notice that mesh on your microwave window. That stops the microwaves, because the mesh has a shorter wavelength than the microwave radiation. In the case of molecules, when the differences in the energy levels of the electrons in orbit coincide with the radiation energy, the radiation can be absorbed. Walls tend to have many different types of atoms and molecules so they absorb a lot, but certain wavelengths can get through certain walls.
It can get pretty complicated.

I'm not fully sure but I think it's that middling radiation is the right energy to excite materials, getting absorbed, but longer wavelengths are too weak and higher ones smash through

Alright, so think of the radiation as different colors.
Some glass is transparent. Some glass is colored. Some stuff is opaque. Light goes through or gets stopped.
Green glass doesn't let red or blue through. It very specifically is only transparent to green frequencies of radiation.

Same thing with concrete, wood, carpet, people. At certain frequencies, most things are transparent to it.

...I dunno why there's a general trend for transparencies of most stuff at different frequencies though.

High energy waves have a lot of energy that needs to be absorbed, so more energy = more penetration.

Imagine the quantum field. Now consider the fact that atomic particles are probably in recognition, at the very least of energy being transferred over time. If it’s a low energy directional beam it wouldn’t technically matter nothing is lost. Imagine a high energy beam those atoms are literally destroyed. Something in the middle probably uses the quantum field to have an energy burst that doesn’t pass the threshold and therefore allows atoms to collectively organize into matter.
