If I have a permutation (1 2 3) and it acts on the array [1 2 3], is the result [2 3 1] or [3 1 2]? Basically, does (1 2 3) mean where the element 1 was, put 2, or does it mean where element 2 was, put 1? I know (1 2 3) means 1 maps to 2, 2 maps to 3, and 3 maps to 1, but does this mean you replace 1 with 2, or move 1 to 2's location?
