I'm a PhD student that got absolutely, completely disillusioned with the academic world and believe science is dying/dead and full of nepotism, corruption and other such absurdity. I have never been this disappointed. This is not to say antivaxxers, flat-earthers and tinfoilhatters alike are right, but many people blindly defending science have no idea of the amount of intellectual dishonesty that happens in the background.

Can someone give me a single reason to continue in academia after the PhD is over?
