Does western civilization is afraid that China outcompete them in every science and technology breaktrough? For example fusion energy? How the world would be with China as the new economic and military superpower ? Does developed countries will stay away from european and northamerican economies?

This isn't really science, anyway it's mostly an american fear.
The rest of the western societies are a lot more chill about science, they are more concerned about jobs loss.
The reason of that fear is america is used to think they are always the first in everything, it's psichologically very difficult for them to accept to be in second place.

Fusion energy is a dead end for normal non-kardashev civilizations. Fission is just as good and its really unlikely that the reactors will ever be cheaper than fission. Both fuel sources deuterium/uranium are functionally infinite.
So even if fusion is developed it wont be commercially used because it would be more expensive than fission despite the (infinite but not actually free) deuterium.

Aside from your unfunded claims, another reason for fusion is also safety (can't have a meltdown) and no nuclear waste production.
These are crucial benefits, not accessory.

Dude, China is currently 5 years ahead of the west in some fields, particularly quantum computing.
We're heading straight towards a second cold war (if we are unlucky a full blown superpower war in the next 30 years)

What unfunded claims? Fission is so easy that a simple lump of fissile material will glow red as an heat source. Fusion will always be more complex than that. You think any non-ideologue will believe that fusion reactors will be cheaper than fission reactors? How convenient.

My original post said "unlikely" and given how fusion research gets more expensive all the time while fission happens just by having a solid sphere of subcritical mass i reiterate that its very unlikely that a fusion reactor (not the fuel) will be cheaper than fission. The fact is that we have unlimited energy right now but its not used, fission has realized the promises of cheap unlimited energy, the research was successful 70 years ago. So where are your mass Sahara irrigation projects? Where are your nuclear powered rockets? Your gay reactor wont make any difference but im sure France and China will still build (one) reactor as a point of national pride.

Also, deuterium is not trivially easy to make and neither is tritium. Tritium currently costs $30.000 a gram. So much for free fuel.
