Vaporizer Without Wicks

I was thinking about how Sir James Dyson created the bagless vacuum, and it came to my mind this morning that it would be possible to create a wickless vaporizer. Although I haven't vaped for a couple years, I remember how, even when the wick wasn't "burnt," it was already burnt. The wick almost always burns after just a couple hits where it makes contact with the coils. The tar from burnt wicks gradually collects in the mouthpiece, and it you don't realize how nasty it really is until you wipe it off with a paper towel.

I'm thinking you could make one with a copper plate that boils off some of the liquid, but that would likely be very energy efficient, and horrible at making big clouds. Another problem with that would be that the liquid touching the plate itself would likely get burnt. As long as the liquid wouldn't get burnt, I imagine this would give you the best flavor possible from any e-liquid.
