Most people do have an intuition of this. A normal person can reasonably acquire $1 mil in assets. Most people will earn more than that over their life. Billionaires are extremely abnormal, you most likely will never meet one, and the word is used to represent an extreme level of wealth far beyond what someone could ever spend (unless they want to spend it on making india poo in the loo).

How the fuck can't you? Using your visual-spatial sense you can easily visualize differences in amounts. If a million loafs of bread fit in a warehouse of x size, then 1000 of the warehouses or a warehouse 1000x that size would fit all of the loafs of bread. It's not fucking hard to just zoom out to visualize a million versus a billion.
