It really depends on your uni's program. On mine is like 40% software and web development crap and then the other 60% math and theoretical cs.

CS is a great field with varying quality depending on the school. Many schools in the US have mediocre undergraduate programs, despite the field itself being very, very interesting. The amount of black magic results in graphics and algorithms is stupefying to say the least. Read up on randomized, streaming, and sketching algorithms.

sounds like a combination of great school + european CS. I wish mine had more math, they make the math in the CS theory courses as easy as possible. kinda wish I did cs + math minor or something. At least since i'm doing CE i have extra EE courses tacked on so I get some more math that way.

I studied math in germany, and the only cs guys I saw were in LA (very basic) and some aids numerical maths courses.

people who study math also have Analysis III, cs people don't have this,
also there is some subject called "numerical math" which i think we share but i am not shure

You can also add even more math from semester 4 onwards but this is a choice

where did you study? I study at KIT

Here I also have mostly maths and theoretical computer science, the only programming languages we learn are C and Lisp (and some assembly).
Are CS courses in the US like this? Why would you go to university for 4 years to learn how to code?

Actually, we have VHDL and SQL but it doesn't really count. And we have to learn an OOP on our own for some subjects.

Only "applied linear algebra" is required, linear analysis is an elective here. this is exlcuding math in cs courses like combinatorics but my experience so far is the courses avoid heavy math in CS, even combinatorics. maybe its not as important as I think it is but so far I just feel like I learned a lot less math than I expected to.

The Uni I go to has the reputation of the grads being some of the best programmers in my country, without having much programming itself. Knowing the maths behind it is more important than knowing 50 different languages.

Redpill a third world shitter on eurofag/krautfag CS curriculum. CS here is essentially just treated as IT, and most professors are disconnected from research. Also, funny thing is, they are all mathematically illiterate kek. They can't even give the formal definition of a finite automaton, the way they taught automata to us is handwavy, and I feel like I've wasted my life here.

kraut here, studied CS at RWTH.
The bachelor curriculum was half math half computer subjects, but everything quite theoretical. The pure math subjects were:
Linear Algebra,
Analysis,
Numerics,
Discrete Structures,
Mathematical Logic,
and then of course a bunch of more hybrid subjects where the math from the aforementioned subjects was used in computer subjects.
The master curriculum was purely electives, so you could avoid pure math there if you like, but still heavily theoretical. In my entire time at the university I had one lecture on programming in my first bachelor semester covering some C and assembly just to introduce it, other than that you're expected to already know programming or learn it yourself.
